What makes you unique? Do you strive to be your own person, or do you just go along with the crowd? Does the phrase well I guess I’ll do it because everyone is doing it, come out of your mouth? This is a lie from the enemy, not everyone is doing it. Whatever “it” may be in your life not everyone is doing “it”. Sex, drugs, alcohol, drugs, cigarettes, stealing, cheating, whatever “it” is, not everyone is doing “it”. We can stand out not only Christians but as people who have a moral standard. Don’t be caught up in the lie that everyone is doing it. Dig Deeper into who you are in Christ.

To this you were called, because Christ suffered for you, leaving you an example, that you should follow in his steps. “He committed no sin, and no deceit was found in his mouth.” 1 Peter 2:21-22

Are you following the example of Jesus? The desire of our hearts need to be. To strive toward committing no sins, and keeping deceit from our mouths needs to be the driving factor of our walk. It may seem impossible to obtain a life free of sin, but if it was something we could obtain it in our own strength why wouldn’t we have already obtained it. No we can’t do it in our own strength. We need to rely on the power of the Holy Spirit working in our lives to use our weakness to make us strong.

Giving ourselves completely over to God takes a lot of faith and submission most of us feel we just can’t do. We feel that giving it all and we will lose a part of who we are in the process. Ask yourself who am I am what am I afraid of losing. Is it something that is against the heart of God, to begin with? What are you holding out on that is keeping you from digging deeper in your faith?

God works with who you are to complete you. We don’t give ourselves to God and then become a clone. He uses our uniqueness to reach the world if you will let him. He used many different people throughout the bible and their uniqueness is what defined how they were used. Their experience pushed them forward and were catalysts in reaching the world.

As we dig deeper into our faith let God use your uniqueness to reach those around you. Drop the things that hold you back and grow the areas that will strengthen you. God is shaping you into a Christian who is effective in the mission. Will you let him?

Jesus, we thank you for giving us a uniqueness that we can use to reach others. You use our experiences to define us, which in turn we can use to fulfil the mission. Let us see others how you see them, that they matter to you, so they matter to me, and it is time for us to do something about it. Amen
