“We know what real love is because Jesus gave up his life for us. So we also ought to give up our lives for our brothers and sisters.” (1 John 3:16 NLT)
True love is an action, not only a feeling. It produces selflessly and gives sacrificially. The greatest act of love is giving one’s self for others. How can we “give up our lives?” By serving others with no thought of receiving anything in return.
Sometimes it is easier to say we’ll die for others than to truly live for them — this involves putting others’ desires before our own. Jesus taught this principle of love in John 15:13.
“There is no greater love than to lay down one’s life for one’s friends.” (John 15:13 NLT)
These passages tell us that we are to love each other as Jesus loved us, and He loved us enough to give his life for us. We may not necessarily have to die for someone, but there are other ways to practice sacrificial love, such as, listening, helping, encouraging, and giving. Think of someone in particular who needs this kind of love today and give them all the love you can, and then try to give a little more.(Tyndale Study Bible)
I feel I need to say this. Why do I write this Blog, I am speaking to myself. I can’t imagine what I would be if I were still living like I did in all those stolen years when I never knew the Way. My biggest regret today is knowing God without having had a relationship with Him. Fortunately, that has changed.
Being a Christian does not make me perfect. I strive for perfection, but I am humbled, before God every day… But enough about me! Here to follow, just another lesson, not by me, but by the Bible and God.
Love is not a feeling it’s an action. The question is: what worthwhile has no action with it? Every single result I have experienced goes hand-in-hand with an action. The most amazing thing is the bigger the action, the greater the result.
Love – Marriage is hard work, even though you think it shouldn’t be because that is what you chose. No matter what you chose to make it worthwhile, you have to work at it. Love is not just a feeling; it’s about doing, it’s an action. Yeah, rich coming from me! I told you I am talking to myself.
The Bible tells a story of the disciples asking Jesus who the greatest among them was? Jesus replied, “he who serves most.” You want to be the greatest? It’s an action; you have to do something! Can you imagine it now? Being the greatest is about action and doing.
“Lord I pray for courage to serve, I want to be the greatest. Let my love for You be first. In Jesus name. Amen”
