“The temptations in your life are no different from what others experience. And God is faithful. He will not allow the temptation to be more than you can stand. When you are tempted, he will show you a way out so that you can endure.”
1 Corinthians 10:13 NLT
In a culture filled with moral depravity and sin-inducing pressures, Paul encouraged the Corinthians about temptation. He said: (1) temptations happen to everyone, so don’t feel you’ve been singled out; (2) others have resisted temptation, and so can you; (3) any temptation can be resisted because God will show you a way to resist it. God will help you resist temptation by helping you (a) recognize those people and situations that give you trouble, (b) run from anything you know is wrong, (c) choose to do only what is right, (d) pray for God’s help, and (e) seek friends who love God and can offer help when you are tempted. Running from a tempting situation is your first step on the way to victory (see 2 Timothy 2:22). (Tyndal Study Bible)
Read this scripture carefully. The part that stands out to me is that God won’t allow temptation greater than you can handle. What’s more is He will show the way to overcome that temptation.
Just this week I experienced this. What I learned is that you have to set a process and standard that keeps you accountable. So I decided to keep a journal to record the sin I struggle with. Remember what I said yesterday: God knows everything, even the amount of hairs on your head. The big test here is obedience. God will reward that. You will only be fooling yourself if don’t keep your commitment.
In sales, you can get into that position of fooling yourself very quickly. You can’t expect the result if you don’t make the calls. That’s cold calls. Do the hard yards, and the results will follow.
As with most things in life, there is an easier way to do things. With most things, there is a handbook or a “how to” recorded somewhere. In the commentary above in the “a to e” section, there is a guideline on “how to”. It’s all in the Bible. Just follow that and pray for strength.
“Lord I am amazed daily how these scriptures follow, talking to just me. I thank you for the inspiration. Give me the strength to overcome sin and daily challenges. In Jesus name. Amen.”
