We’ve all heard it before, time and again: the greatest power we possess is the power of Now.  But what does it really mean?

To me, it’s quite simple, actually.  My greatest “enemy” is Time.  If I am stuck in my past, seeing my failures, shortcomings, losses and doubts, then I cannot move forward today.  Likewise, if I am focused on my future, trying to envision my path, make plans, deal with my fears of failure, the unknown, or success, then I cannot move forward today.

But if I focus on each breath I take, and see it as the success it is, things begin slowly changing.  I don’t have to resolve my issues to be successful NOW.  I don’t need a plan to be successful NOW.  I only need to breathe right now to be successful.  And each success builds upon the one before, granting me positive momentum for whatever I’m trying to accomplish…

Breathe…  Just breathe.  And build on that success.  Every moment I don’t “act out” adds to my successful accomplishments column, and serves to balance out my perceived “failures.”  And feeling successful is the greatest motivation I have found to progress in any program of self-improvement.

Now…  I can do ANYthing now.  I can endure pain for a moment.  I can contemplate growth.  I can take one trembling, fragile step forward.  Now…

Pure magic…
