‘For God saved us and called us to live a holy life. He did this, not because we deserved it, but because that was His plan from before the beginning of time—to show us His grace through Christ Jesus.” (2 Timothy 1:9 NLT)
In these verses, Paul gives a brief summary of the Good News. God loves us, chose us, and sent Christ to die for us. We can have eternal life through faith in him because he broke the power of death with his resurrection. We do not deserve to be saved, but God offers us salvation anyway. What we must do is believe in him and accept his offer. (Tyndale Study Bible)
As I ponder this scripture, I realise that it is as simple as that, just to believe and accept His offer.
As humans, we over complicate things, when it is usually actually simple. The Bible is a big book with its complexity. Yet salvation is very simple. Believe and accept His offer.
God broke the power of death by His resurrection.
With believing comes the promise of eternal life. I attended a funeral the other day and was thinking of the gift of eternal life. Do we deserve it? No, we don’t. But it’s God’s promise, and all we have to do is believe.
On my way to the funeral, I was listening to a radio article about people’s testimony. It suddenly dawned on me that I live in a privileged environment. There are people out there with much larger problems. God’s grace is available to all. Please hear me when I say this: God’s grace is available to all.
The offer stands.
‘Lord I pray that people accept Your Grace. Amen.”
