“Make allowance for each other’s faults, and forgive anyone who offends you. Remember, the Lord forgave you, so you must forgive others.”
Colossians 3:13 NLT
The key to forgiving others is remembering how much God has forgiven you. Is it difficult for you to forgive someone who has wronged you a little when God has forgiven you so much? Realizing God’s infinite love and forgiveness can help you love and forgive others. Let God worry about the wrongs you’ve suffered. Don’t quench your life in bitter feuding; live renewed in love and joy. (Tyndale Study Bible)
Driving to work, I notice a homeless person up from his sleep. It’s 5.45 am, the thought that comes to mind is, he is as “good” as I am. The early bird catches the worm. He has his trolley and is rushing somewhere. I wonder where is he going? His place of work? Well, I have an office to go to, he does not. I am blessed with a special talent, what is his talent? We have so much to be grateful for. The Bible is very clear about the use of your talents (Mathew 25:14-30) Firstly are you using them and secondly to its full potential? Well, I believe he is as good because he is making an effort.
Why am I writing about a street person? Well as I was meditating this scripture I realized there no one in this world better than the next person. I was in conversation with some people yesterday and we were discussing a colleague, his/her faults. As I was listening, I thought to myself that no one making those comments is perfect and faultless. That includes me. So who are we to judge?
Reading this scripture, I realize that rather forgiving loving and reaching out to that person would help more. You should forgive. I don’t mean that you have to condone their behaviour and actions. Very different concepts. You can forgive and love. You don’t have to accept bad choices; you can forgive, however.
So are we as good as the homeless guy, maybe he has forgiven all? Forgiving releases you and moves you closer to God.
God forgave me!
“ Lord I pray for Your forgiveness. May I forgive those I need to forgive. Guide me Holy Spirit. In Jesus Name. Amen”
