“The Lord isn’t really being slow about his promise, as some people think. No, he is being patient for your sake. He does not want anyone to be destroyed, but wants everyone to repent.”
‭‭2 Peter‬ ‭3:9‬ ‭NLT‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬
God may have seemed slow to these believers as they faced persecution every day and longed to be delivered. But God is not slow; he just is not on our timetable (Psalm 90:4). Jesus is waiting so that more sinners will repent and turn to him. We must not sit and wait for Christ to return, but we should realize that time is short and we have important work to do. Be ready to meet Christ anytime, even today; yet plan your course of service as though he may not return for many years. (Life Applications Study Bible)
Do we have patients in this modern world? Everything has become instant. It makes me think of fast food and the modern drive-thru. Is it quality? Yes, it is terms of fast food standards. If we go to a sit-down restaurant and wait, meals are better. Quality and patience, I think they go hand in hand. My experience has been if you apply patience the result is better.
However what we tend to do, is be slow which borders on tardy. We put things off and don’t do them immediately, that’s not slow that’s tardy. This certainly is not the Lord’s intention here. God’s time is deffirent to our time. The scripture says He is patient for our sake.
It makes me think of my salvation. It took me 52 years before I met Jesus. I often feel that I lost so much time. You see its all in God’s time. Many a day I wonder what God’s plan is for me. What I have learnt is that we are to be patient and all will be revealed to us. I the meantime just keep on doing the right things. If you are wondering what they are it is all in the Bible?
For those who don’t know Him yet, He is giving you time to repent and accept Him. For the believer, we are to convince others about Jesus. The time might run out!
“Lord I thank you for patience. Thank you for waiting for me. In Jesus name. Amen”
