As I type this for the second time I feel discouraged, which to me is ironic as I had just finished my post and was getting ready to copy and paste it. I accidentally pasted yesterday’s msg over top and without an undo button it is lost forever. I wonder how many of us wish we had an undo button in our lives where we could undo the last hour, week, month or year?
“This is my command—be strong and courageous! Do not be afraid or discouraged. For the LORD, your God is with you wherever you go.””
Joshua 1:9 NLT
Many of us as believers can be discouraged when people around us or our families or ourselves become sick. These earthly bodies even though redeemed by the blood of the lamb are still susceptible to illness. These diseases will bring us down and out, some will turn to God for comfort and others will blame him.
People get angry with God, if you read your bible you will see many examples, yet when you remain angry with God it creates roots of bitterness which will destroy you even more. We need to get past that moment of anger and turn to him trusting he knows what’s going on and will help. We need to converse with him, let him know the situation, even if he already knows. This openness with God is the relationship both parties desire. To openly tell God what you need is to make yourself vulnerable, like telling a close friend your deepest secret.
So, are you angry with God? Has something in your life made you afraid? Are you discouraged about something? Has sickness affected you or someone close to you? Do you blame God?
Let us dig deeper in our daily prayers and reading the word. Bring your hurts, pains, sickness, fears and discouragement to him and ask him to reveal himself to you in the midst of your storm. He is by your side through it all, ask him to show you his presence.
Jesus, I thank you that you’re by my side. If I am discouraged, encourage me. If I a sick, heal me. If I am afraid, comfort me. Do not let me walk through this storm alone, show me that you are with me. Let me be an example of a follower who trusts you with everything. Help me to use these experiences to reach others for you who may be going through the same troubles. Let me show them that they matter to you, and they matter to me. Give us courage and opportunities to reach those around us. Amen
