“So get rid of all the filth and evil in your lives, and humbly accept the word God has planted in your hearts, for it has the power to save your souls.”
‭‭James‬ ‭1:21‬ ‭NLT‬‬
19-21 Post this at all the intersections, dear friends: Lead with your ears, follow up with your tongue, and let anger straggle along in the rear. God’s righteousness doesn’t grow from human anger. So throw all spoiled virtue and cancerous evil in the garbage. In simple humility, let our gardener, God, landscape you with the Word, making a salvation-garden of your life.
James 1:19 – 21MSG
James advises us to get rid of all that is wrong in our lives and “humbly accept” the salvation message we have received, because it alone can save us. ( Tyndale Study Bible)
Therefore laying aside – As a dirty garment. All the filthiness and superfluity of wickedness – For however specious or necessary it may appear to worldly wisdom, all wickedness is both vile, hateful, contemptible, and superfluous. Every reasonable end may be effectually answered without any kind or degree of it. Lay this, every known sin, aside, or all your hearing is vain. With meekness – Constant evenness and serenity of mind. Receive – Into your ears, your heart, your life. The word – Of the gospel. Ingrafted – In believers, by regeneration, James 1:18 and by habit, Hebrews 5:14. Which can save your souls – The hope of salvation nourishes meekness. ( John Wesley Commentary)
On a daily basis, we get dressed in fresh clothing. We discard the dirty garments get washed. If we don’t do that, we are quickly tarnished. We carry the stigma he does not wash. My Question is, do we tend to our spiritual or inner appearance? As n Christian, I only now know the answer.
In the world, it is so easy forgotten, why because we can hide our imperfections. You know what I mean; it is easy to hide how you feel and those evil thoughts. We can even mask depression, but we can’t mask dirty clothes.
Please bear in mind this is not what I am saying, it’s written. The Bible is such an amazing resource guide. Consider the scripture again read the Message version as well. Can you apply all the perfect instruction above? All things are possible through God.
Again I point out, why bother with anything else it’s all there in the Word of God. We don’t need anything else. Just follow his instruction.

“Lord I pray for Your instruction. Your words of wisdom, let them lay at my heart. In Jesus name, I pray. Amen.

I know Jesus and St Paul had a lot to say about how we should not retaliate for periceived of real slights and injury, (turn the other cheek etc), but how do you explain the difference between what God, thfough Jesus. said in the New Testament, and what He said in the Old Testament about an ‘eye for and eye and a tooth for a tooth’. These contradictions between the two testaments have always confused me, and are, in fact, a severe stumbling block.
