The story of this movie was based on a 1904 play named ‘Peter Pan’ or the ‘Boy Who Wouldn’t Grow Up‘, by Scottish novelist J. M. Barrie. Later in 1911, he gave rise to another version of the same in the form of a novel named ‘Peter and Wendy‘. Think wonderful thoughts with our Peter Pan Quotes with images because there are so many little gems of quotes from Peter Pan. Here are some sayings that will add just that little bit of sparkle and fairy dust to your life. Peter Pan sayings can be treated as thoughts of an innocent yet wise kid.

“He flies without wings. His shadow leads a merry little life of its own. Face-to-face with the terrible Captain Hook, Peter dispatches that pirate with jaunty ease. Peter is at home with mermaids and understands their language. He is twelve years old forever simply because he refuses to grow up beyond that comfortable age. Most remarkable of all, he knows where Never Land is and how to get there.”  ―Walt Disney

Quotes From Peter Pan

  • “Dreams do come true, if only we wish hard enough. You can have anything in life if you will sacrifice everything else for it.”

  • “There could not have been a lovelier sight; but there was none to see it except a little boy who was staring in at the window. He had ecstasies innumerable that other children can never know; but he was looking through the window at the one joy from which he must be for ever barred.”

peter pan quotes

  • “Pan, who and what art thou?” he cried huskily.
“I’m youth, I’m joy,” Peter answered at a venture, “I’m a little bird that has broken out of the egg.”
  • “If you shut your eyes and are a lucky one, you may see at times a shapeless pool of lovely pale colours suspended in the darkness; then if you squeeze your eyes tighter, the pool begins to take shape, and the colours become so vivid that with another squeeze they must go on fire.”
  • “Stars are beautiful, but they may not take an active part in anything, they must just look on for ever. It is a punishment put on them for something they did so long ago that no star now knows what it was. So the older ones have become glassy-eyed and seldom speak (winking is the star language), but the little ones still wonder.”
  • “She was a lovely lady, with a romantic mind and such a sweet mocking mouth. Her romantic mind was like the tiny boxes, one within the other, that come from the puzzling East, however many you discover there is always one more; and her sweet mocking mouth had one kiss on it that Wendy could never get, though there it was, perfectly conspicuous in the right-hand corner.”

To Die Would Be An Awfully Big Adventure:

    • Hook: And now, Peter Pan, you shall die.
Peter: To die would be an awfully big adventure.
    • At the Chapter 8, The Mermaids’ Lagoon, Peter was alone on the lagoon. The rock was very small now; soon it would be submerged. Pale rays of light tiptoed across the waters; and by and by there was to be heard a sound at once the most musical and the most melancholy in the world: the mermaids calling to the moon.Peter was not quite like other boys; but he was afraid at last. A tremor ran through him, like a shudder passing over the sea; but on the sea one shudder follows another till there are hundreds of them, and Peter felt just the one. Next moment he was standing erect on the rock again, with that smile on his face and a drum beating within him. It was saying, “To die will be an awfully big adventure.

  • ”Give me one reason to why one should become a grown-up.“
  • “All children, except one, grow up. They soon know that they will grow up, and the way Wendy knew was this. One day when she was two years old she was playing in a garden, and she plucked another flower and ran with it to her mother. I suppose she must have looked rather delightful, for Mrs Darling put her hand to her heart and cried, ‘Oh, why can’t you remain like this for ever!’ This was all that passed between them on the subject, but henceforth Wendy knew that she must grow up. You always know after you are two. Two is the beginning of the end.”

Neverland Quotes

Neverland (also spelled Never Land and also known as Never Never Land) is a fictional location featured in the works of J. M. Barrie and those based on them. It is an imaginary faraway place of Peter Pan, Tinker Bell, the Lost Boys, and others. People in Neverland may cease to age, and its best known resident famously refused to grow up, so it is often used as a metaphor for eternal childhood (and childishness), immortality, and escapism. Neverland has been featured prominently in subsequent works, either adapting Barrie’s works or expanding upon them.

  • “Of all the delectable islands the Neverland is the snuggest and most compact, not large and sprawly, you know, with tedious distances between one adventure and another, but nicely crammed. When you play at it by day with the chairs and table-cloth, it is not in the least alarming, but in the two minutes before you go to sleep it becomes very nearly real. That is why there are night-lights.”
  • “Feeling that Peter was on his way back, the Neverland had again woke into life. We ought to use the pluperfect and say wakened, but woke is better and was always used by Peter.”
  • “Peter was not with them for the moment, and they felt rather lonely up there by themselves. He could go so much faster than they that he would suddenly shoot out of sight, to have some adventure in which they had no share.
He would come down laughing over something fearfully funny he had been saying to a star, but he had already forgotten what it was, or he would come up with mermaid scales still sticking to him, and yet not be able to to say for certain what had been happening.
It was really rather irritating to children who had never seen a mermaid.”
  • “There were letters on the bottom, letters he’d seen before, on the ship that had carried him from London, the ship that had broken up on the reef that guarded the island. The letters said: NEVER LAND.
Peter looked at it. And then he looked around him–at the lagoon; at the rock where the mermaids (Mermaids!) lounged; at the palm-fringed beach; at the tinkling fairy flitting over his head; at his new friends the Mollusks; at the jungle-covered, pirate-infested mountains looming over it all.
Then he looked at the board again, and he laughed out loud.
‘That’s exactly where I am,’ he said.”

Tinkerbell Quotes

Tinker Bell (Tink for short), is a fictional character from J. M. Barrie’s 1904 play Peter Pan and its 1911 novelization Peter and Wendy. She is Peter Pan’s sidekick, and regularly joins his exploits throughout the magical isle of Neverland.

Despite her cute appearance, Tinker Bell is very sassy, feisty, stubborn, and hot-tempered. Upon meeting Wendy and other human females, Tink immediately shows disgust and irritation, mostly out of jealousy. This drives Tink to perform acts both selfish, and even murderous, much to Peter’s annoyance. However, despite her rough interior, at her core, Tinker Bell is devoted and loyal to those she loves, and will eventually come to terms with those she initially resents, should they prove themselves worthy of friendly treatment. This can be seen, most notably, with her relation to Wendy Darling in the original film.

As a fairy, Tink can fly and produce pixie dust, which allows others to fly. She is described as being a tinker, meaning that she mends pots, kettles, and acorn caps, and is shown to be very skilled, gifted, and talented at it too.

tinkerbell quote

  • “Tink was not all bad: or, rather, she was all bad just now, but, on the other hand, sometimes she was all good. Fairies have to be one thing or the other, because being so small they unfortunately have room for one feeling only at a time. They are, however, allowed to change, only it must be a complete change.”
  • Peter: You’re a… you’re a complex Freudian hallucination having something to do with my mother and I don’t know why you have wings, but you have very lovely legs and you’re a very nice tiny person and what am I saying, I don’t know who my mother was; I’m an orphan and I’ve never taken drugs because I missed the sixties, I was an accountant.
    Tinkerbell: Guess again.
[Tinkerbell takes the sheet which makes Peter trip on the floor]
    Peter: [disoriented] Oh, look, stars.
Tinkerbell: That’s right, Peter, second star to the right and straight on till morning.
[Tinkerbell takes Peter by the strings of the sheet]
    Tinkerbell: Neverland!
  • Peter: [sees Tinkerbell on the Peter Pan statue] Tink!
Tinkerbell: Say it, Peter. Say it and mean it.
    Peter: I believe in fairies.
Tinkerbell: You know that place between sleep and awake? That place where you still remember dreaming?
    [Peter nods]
Tinkerbell: That’s where I’ll always love you… Peter Pan. That’s where I’ll be waiting.
  • Tinkerbell: If less is more, there’s no end to me, Peter Pan.
  • Tinkerbell: I drank poison for you! You called me Tink.
  • Tinkerbell: Well, whoever you are it’s still you, ’cause only one person has that smell.
    Peter: Smell?
Tinkerbell: The smell of someone who has ridden the back of the wind, Peter. The smell of a hundred fun summers, with sleeping in trees and adventures with Indians and Pirates. Oh remember, Peter? The world was ours. We could do everything or nothing. All it had to be was anything ’cause it was always us.
